Happy Holidays and best wishes for the New Year!

Before we step back, slow down and enjoy the holiday season, you need to know about the highlights from our recent and successful mid-Winter Board Meeting. Our Association is taking exciting steps forward into 2012 and beyond.

“You will notice numerous new offerings tailored specifically to add more member value for you.”

First, ‘thank you’ to the Board of Directors for taking time in a busy month to come to World Headquarters to conduct the business of IAVM. We are at a time when our Association is posed for growth in many areas.

You will notice numerous new offerings tailored specifically to add more member value for you. These are all fresh on the heels of two significant program launches: VenueNet and VenueDataSource.

You are reading one of the new offerings right now. This blog will share my thoughts on the industry and more and also include other industry leaders who will address a variety of important subjects near and dear to venue management.

On December 8, you began receiving the IAVM News newsletter in a once-a-week publication. We have partnered with MultiView, a company with expertise in selling advertising and creating additional content for association publications. We hope you have enjoyed the first few newsletters and urge you to watch for it each Thursday in your email inbox.

IAVM Travel is a new service now available to IAVM members only. The service is guaranteed to save you time and money by delivering the best prices on airfare, lowest car rental rates and huge savings at participating hotels.

We are also taking a fresh look at our Membership Directory. The 2012 directory will only be available in an online format and will save you time and effort by providing the most current, up-to-date information. By not printing and mailing this we will be better stewards of our time and our environment.

The IAVM Career Center and Online Learning Center are two more new offerings that will provide outstanding member benefits. The Career Center will be coming soon and will be the definitive go-to resource for job seekers and employers in the venue industry. The Online Learning Center will connect you to digital recordings and allow you to revisit crucial information that you can review at your own pace to continue your professional development.

“If it seems like there is a lot going on, there is. But as we head toward a new year, we know that these ambitious undertakings will make your membership more valuable and rewarding.”

In summation, we have a number of new programs that have been, or shortly will be introduced, created solely to offer you greater member value.
Many of these programs and services have bearing on our budget for the next fiscal year, of course. We expect our new partnerships to create additional and, in certain instances, new revenue for the Association.

As we grow the value your membership is bringing to you, we also expect to grow our membership right alongside our value proposition. Our goal is a 10% increase in membership next year, and you’ll see some new membership development strategies coming out next year to entice more memberships from each venue.

If it seems like there is a lot going on, there is. But as we head toward a new year, we know that these ambitious undertakings will make your membership more valuable and rewarding. As these programs roll out, be sure to let us know how they are working and what we can do to continue making your Association the very best it can be for you.

Now, let the holidays begin.
