We’re proud of our recent story featuring the great Joe Floreano, CFE! For a few of the photos used in our April/May Facility Manager story, we arranged a custom photo shoot that leveraged quite a bit of technology to make it a quick, successful project for everyone involved. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes:
We found a great fashion photographer (no other photographer would handle that spectacular tie properly!), Ira Morris, local to Joe Floreano’s homebase, the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
I sent over a few sketches that Ira was able to use to set up every detail of the shoot (location in the convention center, backdrop, lighting and equipment). Joe’s team coordinated perfectly with Ira to make sure everything was in place and ready to go the minute Joe walked up for the shoot.
Meanwhile, I was 1,429 miles away, connected to Ira via a great online meeting tool called join.me. Combined with software on Ira’s laptop that synced to his camera, Join.me allowed me to talk to Ira throughout the shoot, control his laptop and evaluate each photo in real-time as it was taken.
I drank coffee and watched as we captured some fantastic shots of Joe. The shoot ended, Ira and I selected a final batch, and they were in my inbox about an hour later. It was great to be able to participate in this part of telling Joe Floreano’s story in the magazine, and the mix of technology and people helping out made it incredibly efficient!
I learned later that amazing ties do not happen by accident with Mr. Joe Floreano. I’ll be on the lookout at VenueConnect this July for a few more samples from what I hear is an impressive collection. Congrats on the story and all of your successes Joe, and thanks for all the help from you and your team in making this photo shoot so smooth.
