The Bleacher Report offers an inside look at the massive elevator and turntable installed at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn:
Real estate is expensive in New York, and bus ramps take up space. Forest City Ratner Companies found a modern solution and eliminated the ramp. As you can see in the video, that solution was met with plenty of awe from various NBA visitors, including Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and Joakim Noah.
The following are the specs for the elevator (via Linda Chiarelli, Forest City Project Executive for construction of the arena):
Capacity: 80,000 pounds
Length: 81 feet
Width: 14.5 feet
Height: 14 feet
Descent: 27 feet
Quantity: Two truck elevators, side by side
Cost: $1 million per elevator
